“Currently my work spans across several different mediums including paint, photography and film, with key themes explored in each of these disciplines. I enjoy the interplay that occurs when working between the disciplines and how properties intrinsic to one medium can be incorporated into another - one work informing and shaping the other. One particular theme that has proven to be of sustained interest to me is that of the self within the modern urban environment:
In my painting I like the contradiction between the new and the old. The use of computers for example in the design and distortion of an image, contrasting with the brushstrokes created by the artist’s own hand. In painting I am keen to harness those qualities that are unique to that medium, such as brushstroke and texture, thus developing an image that is the product of both modern and traditional practices.”
