Artist: Sumiko Seki
Sumiko Seki’s oil paintings are inspired by the transient nature of everyday life. She contrasts how plants and animals inevitably age and die against fantasy backgrounds of ethereal colour and light. The result is an emotive collection of works that are both charming and unsettling.
Sumiko Seki was born in Shizuoka, Japan in 1971. After studying Fine Art at the Byram Shaw School of Art, Ms Seki completed an MA in Fine Art at the London and Chelsea College of Fine Art and Design. She has exhibited extensively in London and has also displayed works in Japan, Belgium and Italy. Sumiko Seki’s artistic career has been accredited with various awards and articles published in highly regarded art journals including Art Review and Artist’s Eye.
